Try to give yourself to Jesus on Christmas day.

From EWTN, Fr. Joseph

That is what we want to do today.

We must always remember that love always begins with God – it is His initiative. He brought us into existence, sustains us every moment, sent His Son to dwell among us and to save us, and has prepared a place for us. All of this was done without compulsion, except that of His love and goodness that compelled Him to do these things for us.

Now He waits for our response – for love can be repaid by love alone. And love is something that can only be freely given. The Babe of Bethlehem is small and vulnerable with arms outstretched, so that we might not fear to approach Him. Today, spend some time looking upon the Infant in the Manger and see the love of God made manifest there. As you gaze upon the Divine Child, allow Him to love you! Do not look at yourself and your unworthiness – look only at the Baby, wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a feeding trough for animals in a cold cave.

And love Him in return. Use your own words to express your desire to give yourself to Him who has given Himself to you. That is why He came. The Word was made flesh … for you!
